Accused Child Molester Fugitive Caught
FOUNTAIN- An accused child molester from Indiana is now behind bars.
31-year-old Matthew Behmke was wanted in Indiana on two charges of child molestation and one charge of attempted child molestation. He is accused of molesting his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter. Behmke was staying with a friend in an apartment on Grinde Avenuein Fountain. Colorado Springs Police coordinated their efforts with Fountain Police and made the arrest late Thursday morning. A family friend tellsNEWSCHANNEL 13that Behmke, his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s daughter used to live in the Colorado Springs area before moving to Indiana. Investigators in Indiana say Behmkelikely molested the 5-year-old girl between February and October of last year. Behmke is in custody at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for now. “He will be extradited back to Indiana and have to respond back there to answer to the charges for child molestation,” says Officer Carlos Sandoval with the Colorado Springs Police Department.Court records in Indiana show that Behmke pleaded guilty to domestic battery last year.He was enrolled in a pre-trial diversion program.
