Convicted Sex Offender Caught And In Jail

RYE – Pueblo County Sheriff’s Deputies catch a missing sex offender.

Robert Thompson’s car was found Tuesday afternoon on Old San Isabel Road in Rye. At that time, deputies advised people in the area to use caution if they spotted Thompson.

On Wednesday morning, Carver Middle School, Rye Elementary School and Rye High School were put on lockdown while deputies searched for Thompson.

Wednesday afternoon, Thompson was found in a cabin in the Hidden Creek Ranch Summer Home Community in Rye. Deputies tell NEWSCHANNEL 13 Thompson surrendered. He did have a handgun. No one was hurt. He is now in the Pueblo County Jail.

The school lockdowns were lifted around 12:45 p.m.

NEWSCHANNEL 13 will have complete coverage tonight at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
