Many State Offices To Be Closed Friday

DENVER (AP) – Colorado driver’s license offices and other state offices will be closed Friday for another mandatory furlough day.

About 15,500 executive branch employees are taking the seventh of eight unpaid furlough days ordered by Gov. Bill Ritter this fiscal year to save about $27.2 million in the state budget. The last scheduled furlough day this year is May 28.

State parks will still be open Friday, even though the visitor centers will be closed. It’s also business as usual for state troopers, state hospitals and nursing homes, the unemployment benefits office, Legislature and courts.
