MONUMENT – Students returned to Lewis Palmer High School today from spring break with heavy hearts. Their friend and classmate Levi Patrick was killed in a car accident over the weekend.

As students arrived at school they were greeted by grief councilors to help them deal with the horrible event.

Levi and three of his friends were driving on I-70 when the accident occurred. Police believe that it was due to a faulty tire. Levi was the only one killed and the three others escaped with minor injuries.

Principal John Borman of Lewis Palmer High School could only use one word to describe the feelings of everyone at school. “Sadness, and again from a parent stand point, no parent wants to bury there child, and we feel the same as high school educators. Its just not supposed to happen that way.”

Sasha Patrick is Levi’s sister, while holding a candle light vigil for her brother on Sunday she said, “his smile was so contagious, and he loved you no matter what.”

Principal Borman hopes that everyone learns from how Levi lived life. “He was a very outspoken Christian, he walked the walk and so his example was very much noticed by our kids, and I can see that last night. He stood out in all the right ways, so I hope that our kids and adults can learn something from that.”

Lewis Palmer High School will be back to their normal amount of councilors for Tuesday according to Principal Borman. He feels that the teachers are doing an amazing job of supporting the students and each other through this tragic situation.
