Fire Under Investigation

PEYTON — Firefighters are investigating an early morning fire that started at an abandoned home in Peyton. It’s located on Elbert Road just north of Highway 24.

The fire started around 6:20 Saturday morning andthe home was fully engulfed within minutes.

The home is a complete loss as is a car that was behind it at the time.

Firefighters say this was a vacant home and no one was injured.

The owner of the property says he is not sure how the fire started because the house has not had electricity for quite some time.
