Real Estate Director Claims She’s A Whistleblower

DENVER (AP) – Colorado’s top real estate industry regulator says she’s being retaliated against for revealing that a state lawmaker was under investigation.

In a whistleblower complaint, Real Estate Division Director Erin Toll says she was placed on leave and could be fired after revealing that her division was investigating GOP Sen. Ted Harvey and his employer, American Home Funding.

She also accuses her boss of “mismanagement and improper action” in ending the investigation into whether the company’s ads misled consumers.

Toll and Harvey have clashed before about whether Harvey would benefit from a bill now before the Legislature. It would take away Toll’s authority to investigate mortgage brokers and give it to a board.

An attorney for Toll says she has done nothing wrong and wants to return to work.
