Wednesday Morning Road Conditions

PIKES PEAK REGION – Drifting snow and icy roads underneath was the focus for road crews in El Paso and Teller Counties Wednesday. Light snow continued to fall in slightly windy conditions, but blowing snow was not a problem because the snow is wet and heavy.

El Paso County had 35 plows in service, along with 18 graders. The graders are heavy-duty vehicles designed to move deeper snow and clear gravel roads. White-out conditions were reported in the southeastern areas of the county–specifically along Squirrel Creek and Judge Orr Roads. Snowfall amounts generally are 7 to 8 inches, with a report of a foot of snow in Chipita Park.

Teller County reports a foot of snow with ice underneath. The county has 18 plows in service, focusing on major roads.

Snow-packed and icy roads will be common through the day. NEWSCHANNEL 13 will continue to track conditions for you.
