Public Safety Meeting
COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs Police and Fire Department officials talking about how things are going to get worse as they trim up their budgets. They had a public meeting Tuesday night to talk about the situation.
Law enforcement believes possible budget cuts could mean longer response times. Colorado Springs Police officials also think cuts could mean closing a police substation and slashing as many as 100 positions by 2011.
Deputy Fire ChiefDan Raidertells NEWSCHANNEL 13that budget cuts could also mean fewer firefighters.
There will be three more community meetings about possiblebudget cuts. The locations and times of those haven’t been released yet.
