Gun Held To Elderly Woman’s Head In Robbery

By: Patti Moonp.moon@krdo.com

COLORADO SPRINGS – Three elderly women were robbed at gunpoint in the 3800 block of Lakehurst Drive late Thursday night.

Police officers say a female suspect knocked on an apartment door. A male suspect forced his way in and ordered everyone to the ground whenone of the elderlyvictims answered the door.

The man had a handgun and put it up to one of the victims’ head and threatened to shoot her. The suspects got away with some personal items.

None of the victims were injured. Sgt. Steve Noblitt with the Colorado Springs Police Department says they are shaken up, but should be fine.

Residents at the Southpointe Apartments say the crime is unforgivable.

“It’s horrific,” said Tony Padilla. “We’re supposed to take care of our elders as they get older and look out for them, not rob them and hurt them.”

Padilla says now he’s worried about his family’s safety.

“It’s very concerning to me,” Padilla said. “I have a 4-year-old child. To think that they would hurt the elderly, what would they do to a child?”

The female suspect is described as a light-skinned woman with dark blonde hair, about 5’4” tall. The male suspect was wearing all-black clothing with a ski mask and gloves.

The suspects are still on the loose. They may have chosen the apartment because of the age of the victims.

Police say when it comes to safety, you can never be too careful.

“If you’re worried about it, don’t open the door and certainly feel free to call the police if you feel like you may be in any kind of danger,” Sgt. Noblitt said.

If you have any information that may help police find the suspects, call 444-7000. You can also call Crimestoppers at 634-STOP.
