Prayers And Renewed Hope For David Hames
By Lindsay Watts
COLORADO SPRINGS- There’s renewed hope for a Colorado Springs man still missing inside a Haitian hotel. Friends of David Hames’ gathered to pray Wednesday after signs of life were heard in the area where he was last seen.
“Just about the time we think there’s nothing left to go on, we get a report like this,” says Tosha Williams, a family friend and wife of Hames’ pastor. “These strings just keep us saying, ‘Let’s keep praying for a miracle, it’s not over ’til it’s over.'”
More than a hundred people gathered for a prayer service at the Vanguard Church, where Hames and his family have attended for years.
Hames was at the Hotel Montana in Port-au-Prince when the earthquake hit. Wednesday’s aftershock disrupted the rubble at the hotel, and that’s when reports starting coming of noises beneath the wreckage.
“It seems like there’s been a renewal of help, effort and support there,” says Vanguard Pastor Kelly Williams.
Williamsis urging people to call any government or military contacts they might have to help get more resourcesto Hotel Montana.
“Who knows who may have resources that could help move things along,” he says. “Financial resources to provide some type of equipment that might be needed.”
Hames’ wife Reneedidn’t attendWednesday’s service. Friends say she’sstaying strong, and sticking close to her two young sons.
“She’s definitely preparing for the probability that David is gone, but she has not given up hope that he’s still alive,” says Tosha Williams.
Hames’ colleague Dan Woolley was rescued from Hotel Montana last week, and arrived home in the Springs Tuesday night.
