Helping Starving Dogs

Last month authorities rescued more than 100 emaciated, starving dogs from the Pawsatrack Racing Sled Dog Kennel, located in a remote area near Hartsel. Authorities also found at least 8 dead dogs. The owners of the kennel, Sam and Diane Walker, are facing numerous animal cruelty charges. The animals are now being cared for at many rescues and shelters all over the state, (including 4 dogs currently housed at Pikes Peak Humane Society and several more at Mariah’s Promise Animal Rescue in Divide..) Many people have expressed a desire to help or are interested in adopting the dogs. This morning, Sgt. Bobbi Priestly, an animal control officer with Park County, appeared on KRDO’s Morning News. A fund has been established to help with medical and other costs. If you’d like to make a donation, or if you’re interested in adopting, you can contact Sgt. Priestly at bpriestly@parkco.us for more information.
