Water Main Break Reduces SB Academy To One Lane

COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs Utilities is working a water main break on North Academy Boulevard at Meadowland Wednesday afternoon.

Southbound traffic on Academy has been reduced to one lane. Lane restrictions are expected to be in effect until tomorrow morning. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate southbound routes to avoid delays.The break in the 42-inch pipe occurred at about 1 p.m., most likely as a result of the freeze-thaw cycle which causes the ground around pipes to expand and contract. The cause of the break will be confirmed Thursday morning. No customers are without water service.
