Scott Orr – Assignment Editor

In my 25-year TV news career, I have done every job in the newsroom at least once. I’ve worked around the country in cities as diverse as Phoenix, Arizona and Great Falls, Montana, among others. I started on the studio crew at a station in Tucson back in the early 80s, and have never found another career field as interesting or fun as this one.

The job I enjoy the most–and the one I do here at Newschannel 13–is Assignment Editor. I find news, gather facts, help reporters research their stories, organize newsroom logistics, assign crews, and generally make sure everyone has the resources they need to get their jobs done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Outside of work, I’m a member of the Civil Air Patrol, which is the US Air Force auxiliary. I hold a Commercial Helicopter Pilot’s license. Thanks to a stint in the Carolinas, I am also a big NASCAR fan.
