BLACK FOREST – Investigators are still searching for the man who lived in a Black Forest home that burned down Wednesday morning. They say it is early in the investigation, but they have concerns.

48-year-old Mark Rance is believed to be the last person living in the home on Wildoak Drive. After looking into the property history with El Paso County’s Public Trustees Office, we found that he bought the home in 1990. However, it went into foreclosure in January of 2009. He is no longer the owner. JP Morgan Chase Bank now has the title.

Although we are finding out more information about the history of the home, the whereabouts of the owner and the cause is still a mystery. “I’m trying to get some questions answered but obviously a lot of those questions we’re not going to be able to get answered until we can locate the homeowner to fill in some of the pieces to the puzzle,” said El Paso County Sheriff PIO Lt. Lari Sevene.

Samples from the fire have been sent to a lab to help determine a cause, but the results might not come back for another week or two. “They won’t be able to make a real definitive determination on some of those answers, causeand source, those types of things until they get those lab results back and unfortunately it takes a little while to do that,” said Lt. Sevene.

So now investigators are waiting for lab results and trying to find Mark Rance. If you have any information regarding Mark Rance’s whereabouts, you are asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at 390-5555.
