FOUNTAIN – Veterans, their families and community members filled the lawn of Fountain City Hall Wednesday to honor our Nation’s heroes. Poems were read, songs sung and moments of silence had by all. A local Cub Scout Pack also assisted in releasing balloons to honor our fallen soldiers.

This daywas especially important to Susan Arnold. Her son graduated from Fountain Fort Carson High School in 2005. Army Specialist Ronald James Tucker was killed in action at the young age of 21.

“We just want to make sure that people don’t forget. You never think this is going to happen to you, and when it does, it’s the most devastating thing that can happen to you. You just want to honor your boy and all the fallen soldiers who sacrificed,” said Arnold. She says this ceremony would mean a lot to her son as well. “He would love it. He’d be giving a thumbs-up. I’m sure he’d be proud,” said Arnold.
