Heather Skold – Anchor
It’s such a pleasure being back in my home state, anchoring the 5, 6, and10 p.m. weekday newscastsatNEWSCHANNEL 13. Having grown up on the plains of Colorado, landing the job here was a welcome homecoming.
I mostrecently worked as the morning anchor at KIVI in Boise, Idaho and before that, as an evening anchor at KJCT in Grand Junction, Colorado. My broadcasting career began at WETN-FM in Wheaton, Illinois, where I was the morning show producer and co-anchor. Before falling prey to the broadcasting bug, I wrote for my hometown newspaper, the Haxtun Herald.
I’m a graduate of Wheaton College, with a double major in Journalism and Music. I also spent time studying in Los Angeles at the World Journalism Institute, where I was honored as a Fellow.
The most rewarding part of my job is listening to the people I meet. Everybody has a story, and it’s a privilege to hear it. Throughout my career, I have been honored with numerous awards from the Colorado Press Association and Idaho Press Club. The Colorado Broadcaster’s Association also named me “Best Newscaster.” Giving back to the community is important to me, too. I’ve served as the emcee for the Idaho Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Women of Heart and Sole, and raised money for the Children’s Miracle Network.
When I’m not on the clock, you can find me enjoying the great outdoors, tickling the ivories, competing with family and friends until the wee hours of the morning on a board game, and attempting to perfect my cooking skills.
Drop me a line sometime – I’d love to hear from you. You can reach me ath.skold@krdo.com.
