Weather Good So Far For Balloon Classic

COLORADO SPRINGS – Despite some low clouds and fog, the weather looks promising for the first day of the 33rd annual Colorado Balloon Classic in Memorial Park. As of 6 a.m., visibility from ground level to several hundred feet up was clear, and winds were calm.

Balloon pilots and crews will meet for a briefing at 6:15 a.m. to receive an update on expected weather conditions. If the briefing goes well, the balloons will launch around 7 a.m. 83 balloons have registered for this year’s event.

Other events include a demonstration by paragliders at 8 a.m.; a remote-controlled balloon launch at 8 a.m.; and the Wings of Blue parachute demonstration team at8:30. The event features other acrivities and entertainment throughout the day, ending with the popular Balloon Glow at 8 p.m.
