‘Dog’ On Trail Of Crash Suspect
COLORADO SPRINGS – A car accident and a massive search did not turn up a suspect that a celebrity bounty hunter was trying to apprehend.
Colorado Springs police were called to the scene at W. Moreno and Rio Grande after one of Dog Chapman’s crew member called about a rollover accident with a trapped driver. Once they got there, police found the car but not the suspect.
The suspect is 20-year-old Kelly Murphy. He is wanted for failure to appear on a felony narcotics violation.
They then began to search for Murphy in the field of the Norris Penrose Event Center. At one point dog and his team ran off into a field, looking for Murphy, which put Springs police a little on edge.
“We had gotten a report that his team may have been out on foot trying to locate the suspect,” said Sgt. Jeff Strossner of the Colorado Springs Police Department. “That would have put our officers and K-9 dogs at risk. Maybe apprehending the wrong person or zeroing in on their scent rather than the scent of the suspect.”
Police did not find Murphy in their search. They are also investigating how the crash happened.
Murphy is described as a white male, 5’11” and 240 pounds. He has red hair and blue eyes.
