Arrest Made In Deadly Apartment Shooting
COLORADO SPRINGS – An arrest inSunday morning’s deadly shooting at a Colorado Springs apartment complex.
Police have arrested Thomas Woolly, a 24-year-old Fort Carsonsoldier,for manslaughter.
Police sayhe shot and killed a19-year-oldLisa Baumann of Colorado Springs. The El Paso County Coroner’s office completed an autopsy Monday on Baumann and determined the cause of death to be a gun shot wound and the manner of death to be homicide.
The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday at the Cheyenne Crest apartments on Westmeadow Drive. Policetell NEWSCHANNEL 13 the call was for anaccidental shooting. When they entered the apartment, they found the woman dead from an apparent gunshotto the neck.Woolly also injured himself by unintentionally grazing his leg with a stray bullet.
Police say there were several people inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, and are now questioning those people to find out what happened. It’s unclear whether either victim lived at the apartment, or if the victims knew each other.
This is the 11th homicide in Colorado Springs this year. At this time in 2008 there were 9 homicides.
