What happens when you see a potentially dangerous driver? Signs along I-25 encourage you to call *CSP (*277). NEWSCHANNEL 13’s Marshall Zelinger and photojournalist Isaac Blancas saw a driver weaving on I-25, while returning to Colorado Springs from a story in Pueblo. They called *CSP three times.
Call #1: 11:47 P.M.Marshall Zelinger: “We’re driving from Pueblo to Colorado Springs behind a truck that seems to be weaving in and out of its lane.”CSP: “Okay, where exactly are you?”
The first call was made just north of Pueblo at mile marker 113. The third call took place on the south end of Colorado Springs.
Call #3: 12:06 A.M.Marshall Zelinger: “We’ve been following a car from Pueblo and I’ve called it in twice, swerving.”CSP: “Okay.”Marshall: “On I-25 northbound. We’ve been behind it for 25 miles now.”CSP: “Where exactly are you at?Marshall: “Uh, (mile marker) 136.”
“Some people have the impression, that have called *CSP and don’t get a response, they want to think that we don’t take it serious, we do,” says Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Hall. “If we could make it perfect and respond within one minute every time somebody calls and sees someone driving bad, we would. It’s just not possible.”
You’ll see what happened that night Thursday at 10:00 on NEWSCHANNEL 13.
