Meeting To Address Wild Dog Problem In Eastern El Paso County

ELLICOTT – El Paso County is working to assess the wild dog problem. Reports have come in from the eastern part of the county of residents being chased, delivery drivers kept in their cars, children followed to bus stops and livestock killed by roaming packs of dogs.

Commissioner Amy Lathen calls it a serious issue. “One woman was almost trampled by her herd of cattle because they were being chased by these dogs” says Lathen. Commissioner Lathen is meeting with residents to determine the extent of the problem and whether a fall trapping program by the Department of Agriculture helped reduce the wild dog population.
