Amber Alert Suspect Found Dead; Girls Safe

AURORA – Authorities say the two young daughters of a woman who was discovered dead in her Aurora home have been found safe in Thornton.

The father of two young girls who became the focus of an Amber Alert after their mother was found dead in her Aurora home has died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Aurora police Det. Shannon Youngquist Lucy says 38-year-old Brian Carl Patterson shot himself within 15 seconds of being pulled over by Colorado State Patrol troopers in Thornton late Tuesday. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Patterson had been sought in an Amber Alertfor his daughters, 4-year-old Brianna and 3-year-old Aliyah.The girls were found unharmed.Themother of the girls was found dead at about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning. Police say the woman was likely shot to death. Her name wasn’t released.

Arapahoe County property records show the home was owned by a Pamela Patterson. Records also show Pamela Patterson had filed for divorce from Brian Patterson in Arapahoe County in January.

The Amber Alert from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation saidBrian Patterson had a history of domestic violence and was a person of interest in the woman’s death.
