Former TCA Student’s Statement

3 years ago I was beaten up and bullied. I am here today because I am finally able to stand up for myself. I was ten years old, I was attending the school TCA North Elementary. I was being hurt by a boy my age, he was pushing me down, slapping me, punching me, spitting at me and pinching me so hard I was red all over. He also did other things to me that I’m too uncomfortable to mention.

And when I went to the principal, Mrs. Varland Wolken, there was no action taken. I was very hurt when this brutal behavior continued. Afterwards, I then went to my mother hoping something could be done. A few weeks later, I was called into Mrs. Varland’s office. When I walked into the small room there were many adults in the room who I didn’t know. I was all by myself in there. When I asked to call my mother, she denied me. She then stood up and stooped over the chair I was sitting in. She pointed her finger at me and told me I was overreacting to the situation and basically that I was lying.

When I left this school, it felt like 100 pounds were lifted from my shoulders. I never wanted to come back here, ever! Yet, here I am, up to defend myself.
