Three-Year-Old Springs Girl Murdered, No Arrests Made
COLORADO SPRINGS – Police tell NEWSCHANNEL 13 that the case of a three-year-old girlwho died of blunt head traumahas turned into a murder investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. Taylor died in Februaryat the hospital, one day after being hit in the head and rushed to the emergency room.
Colorado Springs Police originally went to 3655 El Morro Drive because of a reported accidental injury. An autopsy showed police different. They say they’ve been working this case like a homicide for nearly a week now.
“Because of the circumstances of the incident we initiated the detectives to go out there nearly immediately so really we were investigating it as a crime from the onset,” said Lt. David Whitlock.
Police aren’t telling us much about who lives at the home or what may have led to the three-year-old’s death. They call these cases some of the saddest they work and want to make sure the person responsible is caught so the information released to the public, at this point, is limited. Detectives from the Violent Crimes /Juvenile/Crimes Against Children Unit are continuing their investigation.
For Kiera’s mother the haunting question is why? Traci Taylor doesn’t want to jeopardize the open murder investigation so she’s not revealing who she believes may be responsible for her daughter’s death. The toddler lived in Colorado Springs with her father. Traci says certain however that her ex-husband and father of the child did not harm Kiera.
“He loved his daughter,” Taylor said of her ex, Alvin. “I was married to him for one year. I was with him for three years, he wouldn’t do anything to hurt her ever.”
