IPod Double Murder Shooting Suspect In Court

COLORADO SPRINGS – The suspected shooter in the double murder of in Colorado Springs is expected in court Monday.

19-year-old Juan Vasquez, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Friday and is facing two counts of First Degree Murder. Vasquez is being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center without bond.

The shootingshappened around 4:00 p.m.after a large fight erupted at a park nearConstitution Avenue and Canada Drive in the Cimarron Hills Area . Police say those involved are affiliated with local gangs.

Sheriff’s Deputies say the first victim, 17-year-old Luis Burciaga, astudent atNew Horizon School,died at the scene of the shooting. The second victim, 18-year-old Uriel Rascon, astudent at Sierra High School, was taken to a local hospital wherehe waslaterpronounced dead. Both suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest with an assault rifle.

Witnesses report hearing two loud bangs in the park and seeing a group of teens running from the area.The ongoing police investigationrevealed a fight occurred on Wednesday over a stolen IPod and evolved into the shooting on Thursday.
