18-Year-Old Murder Suspect Arrested For Pedestrian Bridge Slaying

COLORADO SPRINGS -Policearrested 18-year-old Taylor Gwaltney Friday just before noonafter he was named as a suspectin Colorado Springs’ 2nd homicide of the year last Sunday. A brief foot pursuit ensued before police were able to take Gwaltney into custody near the Acura dealership on Motor City Drive. Two other men described by police as transients were also taken in for questioning.

CSPD issued an arrest warrant for Gwaltney of Colorado Springs February 15th. He’s suspectedin the murder of 54-year-old David Doyle whowas found dead on the Pedestrian Bridge over I-25 on February 5th.Police have ruled his death the result of head trauma. Locals described the man as a transient who lived in the area.

Gwaltney is said to be about 5’8″, 175 lbs, with blond hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on both forearms, one with the word “Butcher.”

Gwaltney will be transported to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center where he will be booked for First Degree Homicide.
