Vacant Home Total Loss From Fire, Cause Under Investigation

COLORADO SPRINGS – A vacant home thaterupted into flames Wednesday left more questions than answers for crews on the scene who called for major crime units after knocking down the blaze.

The fire sparked at a home on 4903 Galena Drive off of Flintridge and Academyjust after 11 a.m. Crews tell NEWSCHANNEL 13standard protocol in a fire of this size is to call major crimes to investigate. Firefighters say flames and smoke were shooting from the home when they arrived, but they quickly brought it under control.

Initial unconfirmed reports from neighbors point to a possible meth lab operating at some time inside the vacant house. The actual cause of the fire is unknown.
