The Switch To Digital June 12th
COLORADO – The official switch by television stations to a digital signal is nowthree months away. The switch happens on June 12th 2009. That means some of you have work to do if you want to continue to watch your favorite shows.
If you have a television purchased after July of 2006, get service from most cable companies or through a satellite you will not need to make any changes. If you’re using an older television and use an antenna on your house or rabbit ears you’ll need a converter box.
It’s estimated 20-25% of our viewers will have to purchase a converter box to continue to watch television. The converter boxes cost around $60. The government will give you a coupon for $40 off. They are simple to set up and come with instructions.
Once the switch to digital is made you will notice a much clearer picture. The snow that appeared with an analog signal when a signal isn’t strong will no longer appear. You will either see a clear image or no image at all. You’ll use the converter box as your tuner. Your TV will need to be turned to either channel 3 or 4 and you will change the channel through the box.
If you have cable but an older TV you will need to call your cable provider to determine whether or not you need a converter box. To get a coupon for a converter box click here… $40 coupon.
