Update: Arrest Made In Double Homicide
EL PASO COUNTY – A Sheriff’sDepartment official tells NEWSCHANNEL 13 one man has been arrested for the double homicide which happened ata park Thursday afternoon in El Paso County.
The shootingshappened around 4:00 p.m.near the Constitution Square Heights apartment complex nearPeterson Road and Constitution Avenue.
Sheriff’s Deputies say the first victim died at the scene of the shooting, while the second was taken to a local hospital where was laterpronounced dead.
The identities of the victims have not been released, but we’re toldthe men arebetween the age of 17-21.
Witnesses report hearing two loud bangs in the park and seeing a group of teens running from the area.Details surrounding what sparked the shootout are not clear at this time.
Police arenow actively searching for a 1997 Blue Chevy Cavalier with a license plate number of 293-SLF and a greensedan 4-door believed to be involved in the shooting.
Authorities say they have identified thesuspect, who they expect will be the only person arrested, but will not release his identity until later Friday morning.
