17 Schools Lock Down For Suspect Search

COLORADO SPRINGS – Police search for a kidnapping suspect possibly involved in a home invasion has led limited access for 17 separate schools in D20 and D38 Friday morning. Rampart Range Campus and Falcon Campusat Pikes Peak Community College was in complete lock down fora short period Friday morning but is now listed in Restricted Access. Entry to the building can be made from the main entrance only. All classes have resumed, and Child Development Center parents may pick up their children at their normal times. Officers will be patrolling inside and outside the facility.Schools with “Limited Access” in D20 until dismissal:

Each district has different terminology on how to handle levels of security upgrades in possible dangerous situations. D38’s Sheltering in place a has limited outside student activity, butparents are allowed to come pick up theirchildren as normal. All busses will run on normal schedule this afternoon. Parents who live in the Northern part of the district are urged to meet their children at the bus stop.

The D20’s schools on limited accessare allowing students and parents with proper identification in and out of campus but have tightened security as a precaution.

CSPDfrom the Falcon division are investigatingthe possible home invasion at 12635Woodmont Drive, near Middle Creek Parkway and Voyager. Police tellNEWSCHANNEL 13 a person broke into a home an assaulted the resident.

Police have narrowed their search for the suspect who may be related to the kidnapping in Taos, New Mexico Thursday afternoon. A Sheriff spokesperson says the man attempted to kidnap a woman but she escaped.It’s believed the suspect’s car ran out of gas near the Gleneagle exit in El Paso County. Deputies say the woman jumped out of the car and was chased by the suspect before getting away.The woman is safe and is with deputies.
