VA Benefits Error From Computer Glitch

WASHINGTON- Millions of dollars in veterans benefits haven’t been going to some war widows and widowers for the last 12 years, because of computer problems.

Hundreds of thousands of pension and disability checks should have been sent to surviving spouses of war veteransduring the month of their spouse’s death.

The checks range from $100 to more than $2,500.

But in some cases, money was being seized from the elderly survivors’ bank accounts.

TheDepartment of VeteransAffairssays it was not fully aware of the “glitches”, but it is pledging to fix the situation…those who believe they were wrongfully denied payments can call its help line at 1-800-827-1000.
