Decomposing Body Found In Pueblo Garage

PUEBLO – Pueblo police are investigating what could be the city’s 12th homicide this year. The Pueblo Police Department tells NEWSCHANNEL 13 that shortlybefore 8:00 Monday morning, they received a call to 511 N. Hudson Ave. to investigate a the dead body of26-year-old Jerry Bernard Cortezfound in a garage. Police say that a neighborhood man who makes a daily routine of searching for aluminum cans in the area noticed the body as he was walking down the alley between HudsonAve. and Glendale Ave. The body appears to have been there for several days as police noticed signs of decomposition. There were no signs of bodily injury to the body but police are treating the death as a homicide. The property where the body was found has been vacant for at least 4 years according to neighbors.
