Jury Selection Underway In Deborah Nicholls Murder Trial
COLORADO SPRINGS – Jury selection started Tuesday afternoon in the first degree murder trial ofDeborah Nicholls.
Nicholls is theColorado Springs mother accused of killing her three children in an arson fire. The fire broke out March 7, 2003on 4107 Undimmed Circle. Nicholls’ husband, Timothy, was was found guilty in 2007 of setting the fire that killed the couple’s three children, 11-year old Jay, 5-year old Sophia and 3-year old Sierra. Deborah Nicholls was not home at the time of the fire.
Witnesses in the Timothy Nicholls trial testified the couple wanted to kill their children for insurance money to pay off drug debts.
A grand jury indicted Deborah Nicholls on three counts of first degree murder and several other felonies after her husband’s conviction.
Jury selection is expected to take as long as a week.
