D.A. Says Deborah Nicholls Lied To The Grand Jury

COLORADO SPRINGS – The mother of three children who died in a Colorado Springs house fire at 4107 Undimmed Circle in March of 2003 is back in jail. NEWSCHANNEL 13 has confirmed Deborah Nicholls is now facing murder charges in the fire that killed her three children. A source close to Nicholls tells NEWSCHANNEL 13 shewas taken in to custody between abut 8:30 and 9:00Wednesday morning.

The new charges were includedin an indictment from a recently-convened grand jury. NEWSCHANNEL 13 was aware a grand jurywas called to again review the case. It is believed that the convening of the grand jury was the reason her December 3rd trial date was vacated without explanation.

The charges she faces are as follows:

Counts 1 – 3: Murder in the First Degree Counts 4 – 6: Murder in the First Degree, Child Under 12 – Posistion of Trust Counts 7 – 9: Child Abuse Resulting in Death Count 10: Unlawful Use of a Controlled Substance Count 11: Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the First Degree

The reason Nicholl’s faces three counts of each of the first 9 charges is because1 is for each of her 3 children.

Nicholls husbandTimothy Nichollswas tried and found guilty in the deathsof the couple’s three children in May of 2007.

Up until this point, she faced charges of theft, insurance fraud and drug possession.
