Assault Report Leads To Dead Body Discovery

COLORADO SPRINGS – Amanwas taken into custody and charged with murder Monday night after he allegedly assaulted a man that is now dead.

Police were called to Bijou and Cascade just before 7:00 p.m. on September 1st on report of a man being assaulted. However, when they got there, they found a man lying on the south side of Bijou near the Sierra Madre intersection. The man was dead.

Witnesses directed police to a suspectstill nearby. Police arrested 48-year-old Matthew Rowland half an hour after finding the victim’s body.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released. An autopsy is planned to determine his cause of death. Ifthe coroner rules his deatha homicide, it will be the city’s 20th this year.
