Army Gives Public Opportunity To Voice Opinions On Pinon Canyon

FORT CARSON – The 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), Section 2831(a) required the Army to complete a report on the proposed expansion of the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site (PCMS) in Southeastern Colorado. This report was completed and submitted to Congress July 18.In addition to the reporting requirement, Section 2831(c) of the 2008 NDAA requires the Army to solicit public comments on the report and provide those comments to Congress. The 90 day public comment period will open Aug. 15 and remain open through Nov. 15. Over the next 90 days, public comments on the PCMS report can be submitted by going to the Fort Carson website at www.carson.army.mil and clicking on the link titled “NDAA Comments,” located on the left side of the page under Piñon Canyon. Comments can also be mailed to: Fort Carson Public Affairs Office, ATTN: PCMS Report Comments, 6151 Specker Avenue, Fort Carson, CO 80913-5119.At the completion of the public comment period, all comments will be forwarded to Congress for review.The PCMS report is available electronically at www.carson.army.mil under the “Piñon Canyon” link. A hard copy of the report will be made available for those who do not have access to the Internet.
