The event will be held at the August 27th Farmer’s Market in Soda Springs park, located in Manitou Springs. In this pro-am cook-off, participants are required to submit a five-gallon pot of red or green chili for judging. Tickets will be sold to those attending the Farmer’s Market that can be exchanged for samples of the various chili entries. “This is a fiesta, so the contest entrants are encouraged to decorate their area, wear costumes, have fun with it,” said Kitty Clemens, Director of Manitou’s Economic Development Council. The entrant with the most tickets will garner the People’s Choice Award. The overall winner will go home with the much-coveted Chili Garcia trophy, a traveling award that is relinquished to the new winner each year. Space must be reserved by August 20.
