Local Organization Helps Those In Myanmar
COLORADO SPRINGS – Latest reports say the death toll in Myanmar could now be as high as one-hundred thousand. A deadly cyclone hit the Asian country last week. VisionTrustInternational, based in Colorado Springs, had its orphanages destroyed by the cyclone.
VisionTrust reaches out to over four-thousand orphaned and impoverished children in Myanmar. The organization islooking to quickly raise money to help get those children back on their feet. The roof was blown off one of its orphanages, causing water damage to the rest of the building and food supply. Another orphanage also suffered damage. Now, one building is housing both orphans and staff from three different orphanages. VisionTrustis searching forhelp to not only rebuild, but also reach out to the entire community as they did with tsunami relief in 2004.
“We provided food, tents and fishing boats for those that were lost for the entire communites up and down the coast. We were able to reach out to more than the children we have in our program. We intend to do that here too,” says VisionTrust Program Services Director Renee VanDyke.
