Ordway: One Week Later
ORDWAY – It’s been one week since a massive fire swept through the town of Ordway. Now the small community has the very large task of re-building both their homes as well as their spirits.
“This town, it’s just amazing…god must have really protected this town because it could have just wiped the whole thing out,” said Peggy Davis, a resident of Ordway. “I think the town is doing really well, but it was just pretty amazing to see the community to come together.”
A week later, the smell of fire still looms over the town of Ordway, but look past the blackened trees and homes, and you will see something amazing.
A distribution site has opened up at the Fairgrounds just north of town with the help of several volunteers. Hundreds of people and businesses have donated everything from clothing, to household items such as blenders and toothbrushes.
Residents who have lost their homes in the fire can come to the distribution site and pick out whatever they need in order to re-start their lives.
The distribution site needs your help! As of right now they are accepting everything, but say they alreadyhave more than enough clothing. Volunteers say, they are in desperate need of household items, including toys and food for pets.
For more information on what the distribution site needs and how to donate items, you can call the Community Services Distribution Center directly at, (719) 250-9998.
