Salmonella Outbreak In Alamosa County

ALAMOSA – The Colorado Department of Health has issued a drinking water restriction for all of Alamosa county, after the water supply tested positive for bacterial contamination.

Southern Colorado’s Care and Share Food Bank is rushing to send more than 1,200 gallons of water to Alamosa to help residents there.

Residents in Alamosa told NEWSCHANNEL 13 that the bottled water was already flying off of the shelves earlier this evening.

Over 30 people have alreadybeen confirmed to be infected with Salmonella, 4 of those people have been hospitalized. 70 other people have also reported to show symptoms of Salmonella, but have not yet been confirmed.

Sypmtoms of Salmonella infections are afever, abdomen pain, and particularly bloody diarrea.
