Signing Up For School Closure System
NEWSCHANNEL 13 would encourage use of flashnews.net as the means of informing us of school closures and/or delays. (NEWSCHANNEL 13 has no direct affiliation with this service and receives nothing in return for any district’s use of this service.) NEWSCHANNEL 13prefers this service because it is secure for you and NEWSCHANNEL 13 knows that only a district representative with the proper code can place the information on that site. Another benefit to you is that this web site is accessible by all media. However, it would still be to your benefit to contact NEWSCHANNEL 13 and direct our staff to check that site for your district information. NEWSCHANNEL 13‘s morning show “Good Morning Colorado” is two hours from 5:00 a.m.to 7:00 a.m. Cancellations will begin running when we receive them and add them to our information system that displays them at the bottom of the television screen andkrdo.com.
If your district will not be using flashnews.net, we require a letter with the names and phone numbers of the person(s) authorized to call in cancellations and your desired password.

When you call NEWSCHANNEL 13, state clearly your district, your name and phone number to be called back if necessary, and your district password.When you call NEWSCHANNEL 13 clearly state your name, your organization, your code (password) and the phone number to be called back if necessary. The number to call to reachKRDO NEWSRADIOis 475-0800. The stations105.5 FM and 1240 AMalso use flashnews.net so if your information is posted to that web site, you will not have to call both television and radio.
Please note: NEWSCHANNEL 13 is not able to provide long descriptions of different times and circumstances at several different schools and classes. For example: NEWSCHANNEL 13will report the district is closed or a school is closed. We cannot report, for example: one school is closed, one school starts an hour late and another school starts 2 hours late. We will report all athletic events are canceled. We will not report all events are canceled excepta specific one.
Businesseswith closures or delays should follow the same process.NEWSCHANNEL 13 will only announce closures/cancellations that affect businesses with more than 100 employees or with over 100 clients expected to attend during the period of the closure.
