Warrants Served In Connection To Shooting
ENGLEWOOD- Search warrants have been executedinArapahoe County at the homeof a man who shot 9 people in 2 separate shootings. Police say they have spoken with family members of 24-year-old Matthew Murray, who was shot and killed by a security guard after opening fire at New Life Church Sunday afternoon. Forensic evidence has also now connected Murray to a shooting only 12 hours earlier at the “Youth With a Mission” complex in Arvada.
Following investigation, police have determined Murray had previously been a member of the mission, which also has an office at New Life Church. However, he had been removed from the program and according to Detective Jeff Jensen, “did express his discontent.” As of now, it is believed Murray acted alone. He was found wearing a backpack that contained upwards of 1000 rounds of ammunition, in addition to an assault rifle and two handguns.
The investigation is ongoing.
