Peak Vista Community Health Centers

COLORADO SPRINGS – Many of us with employer-provided health coverage hardly give our insurance a second thought… but for those who are under-insured or without coverage, it can be a frightening situation. One of the options available in our community is Peak Vista Community Health Centers.
The Family Health Center at Myron Stratton is the latest addition to the Peak Vista Community Health Centers. With eleven centers in El Paso and Teller counties, Peak Vista is able to offer medical and dental care to those in our community who otherwise might not receive it. “All of our patients for the most part face what we call access to health care barriers,” says Doctor Dale Spencer… “whether that be they don’t have health care available to them in their proximity or they cannot afford such or perhaps they’re uninsured patients…many of our patients are working families that are uninsured who work for smaller firms or companies that do not provide health insurance or cannot afford to offer them any medical care and we are their safety net.”
Peak Vista Community Health Centers operate on federal and state funding, and contributions from organizations in our community. Patients have to meet enrollment criteria to qualify for the many services peak vista offers. Doctor Spencer says “we try to capture all of, sort of one stop shopping if you will where they can see the provider, they can get their laboratory tests performed short of perhaps radiology which we tend to refer out and of course get their prescriptions filled which obviously makes it more convenient for them.” Its a way of making sure everyone in our community gets the medical care they need.
One of those organizations helping to raise money for Peak Vista Community Health Centers is Gerald H. Phipps, Incorporated, General Contractors. They’re holding a charity golf tournament Monday, September 17th at the Colorado Springs Country Club. Call 667-8538 for information on how to enter.
