20 Ft. Carson Troops Are Given The Gift Of Sight

by: NinaSparano

Our troops have enough to think about when preparing for deployment, the last thing they want to worry about is their vision. The Buckley Vision Institute in Colorado Springs is helping to ease the minds of soldiers packing for deployment.

This Tuesday, September 11th,Dr. Brett Buckley and the Buckley Vision Institute are dedicating “Sight For Soldiers Day” to giving 20 local soldiers, set to deploy, free lasor eye correction.

“We know how important it is to the soldiers and their safety, so we really felt this was the thing to do before they’re deployed,” Dr. Brett Buckley says.

The most advanced technology available in laser eye correction has been set aside forthe soclider who have been choose, so they can head into battle with 20/20 vision.

“We’re using what’s called Custom View with not only correct their glasses prescription but cleans up any imperfections in their vision so they can see better in night time and things like that without their contacts or glasses,”Dr. Buckley explains.

Soldiers often have to wear night goggles or heavy masks overseas, which makes wearing glasses, nearly impossible.Laser correction surgery can make their time overseas a little bit easier.

Kara McClure is having lasik surgery in hopes of trading in her frames for perfect vision.

“Glasses are horrible, every time i would touch them i would get them messed up or at workI would wear mask and thenI breath out it fogs up the glass,” says McClure.

Just moments after her surgery, McClure says she can already see clearly, “My vision is a little hazy but its perfectly clear, it just feel like their is a fog outside. That’s all.”

Dr. Buckley says it only takes a few hourse after surgery for your eyes to adjust. At the end of the day Kara and the 20soldiers pre selectedto have the corrective surgery will be lense free, forever.
