Drivers Stranded In Flash Flood

COLORADO SPRINGS – A quick downpour at Star Ranch Road and Highway 115 in south Colorado Springs strands drivers in waist-deep water. The flash flood happened around 10:30Saturday night. Colorado Springs firefighters needed a ladder truck to get to the drivers. Three cars were stuck in the water, but no one was hurt. One of the cars had water up to the seats inside.

“Lots of water inside the car, my engine’s probably toast,” says stranded driver Chris Wright. “It was raining really hard, I couldn’t see the road at all.”

Wright was delivering pizzas when he got stuck in the water.

“It looks like there is water there (in the road), it’s just flat all the way across, you can’t really tell how deep it is, unless i don’t know you’re in it,” says Wright.

The waters started to re-cede after about 15 minutes Star Ranch Road was closed for about 30 minutes.
