Gas Prices Fall Hardest In Pueblo
By Joe Dominguez
COLORADO– Pueblo gas stations are setting the pace when it comes to dropping gas prices. A study done by AAA of Colorado finds they’re leading the state in affordable fuel.
“It’s been very competitive we’ve seen one gasoline supplier drop their prices below $3.00 a gallon,” says Eric Escudero, spokesperson for the American Automobile Association in the state of Colorado. “Sometimes its in the hands of the gas station owners.”
Most experts say the post-Memorial Day period always brings a drop in price but how fast those prices drop is far from predictable. For the second weekend in a row Pueblo outpaced the state by offering gas for an average of $3.11 per gallon. In Colorado Springs the average is $3.20 per gallon, which is slightly below the state average of $3.24. AAA says they’ve seen three consecutive weeks of lower gas prices following record highs at the end of May.
Experts say because gasoline supply is up due to more refineries being operational, low fuel prices should continue for the short run. “At least for the next week or two,” says Escudero who adds no one can predict gas prices for the entire summer because of the hurricane factor. If hurricanes interrupt production you can expect prices to climb again.
