3D printing is how this company creates some of its products, while keeping costs low

As Colorado Springs continues to grow, it's no surprise tech companies are beginning to boom here too.

Bob Kressin lives and works in Colorado Springs. He owns KS Technology, an entrepreneurial company inventing products to make a little bit easier.

"I've been connecting sensors to the internet or to computers for 15-plus years, and it's amazing to see the transformation in the industry that's occurred," Kressin told us.

His company does what they can to ensure they are one step ahead of the growing world of technology.

"We offer engineering services, so if clients come and need us to help solve a technical problem, we can help. But then we also develop products that we sell ourselves," Kressin said.

These products range from specific micro-chips designed for particular clients, to monitors that measure anything from the number of people in the room to the amount of trash left in an industrial can.

It's hard work, but for Kressin, it's machinery like his newest invention, measuring blood-sugar levels without a finger-prick, that makes it all worth it.

"My son contracted type one diabetes when he was 21 months old. Back then it was a finger poke, we would do about 10-12 finger pokes a day on this little 21 months old and at the time I remember thinking, 'There's gotta be a better way'," Kressin told us.

The diabetes monitor is still in the works, with the team hoping to get FDA approval soon. When that does happen, the new reader could be available for a fraction of the cost, without the inconvenience and pain of a finger prick.
