Report: Switchback’s Will Vint tests positive for Covid-19

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Switchbacks midfielder Will Vint tested positive for Covid-19, sources told KRDO sports, which was first to report the story.

The news comes a week after the Switchbacks were forced to reschedule their game against the Austin Bold after someone in Austin's organization tested positive.

Vint did not play in the Switchbacks 2-1 loss to Real Monarchs SLC. After the game, coach Alan Koch was asked about Vint. The following is a transcript of what he said.

Q: Coach, we didn't see Will Vint out there today, can you comment on why?

Koch: "They were a few players that weren't out there today. They are following medical protocol. Obviously we have certain regulations and rules that we have to follow through and medical has them on a protocol right now."

Q: We (KRDO) were told Vince tested positive for Covid. Can you comment on that?

Koch: No, I can't comment on that.

Q: OK. Do you think it was safe to play out there today?

Koch: Yes. Yeah, I think it was. I think our group has done a very good job of following all the protocols, the rules, the regulations, and almost going over and beyond. Obviously, we live in such challenging times, but I do believe it was safe for us to play today. At least from our side. I'm not aware of the other team, but from our side, I think our team and our club has done the right things.

Q: You talked about the protocols that you guys have taken to be safe, what are those protocols that are unique to your team?

Koch: I'd rather talk about the game. There are so many protocols that we're following. The league puts out protocols. Our club put out protocols. They are all out there. We are following them, so I'd rather speak about the game.
