Manitou Springs keeping mask order in effect

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Manitou Springs is keeping its mask order in effect, despite changes to the statewide mandate announced by Governor Polis on Friday.

In a press release sent to business owners in Manitou Springs, obtained by KRDO, the city cites the presence of visitors from all over as reason they are keeping the mandate in place.

"As a City that has visitors from around the state, country, and world visit us daily, we find it of utmost importance that our visitors enjoy our beautiful City safely, and with health precautions in place," the release states. "Therefore, the Emergency Order Concerning the Use of Face Coverings that mandates a face mask while within all local businesses and outdoors within 6’ of others will remain in effect."

Manitou's mandate requires face masks within all local businesses, as well as outdoors within six feet of other people.

On Friday, Governor Polis announced state mask requirements would become "suggestions and guidance" in most situations.
