Employees for the town of Monument test COVID-19 positive

MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) -- The town of Monument announced Thursday afternoon that a few of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials did not release an exact number. but said they have been in contact with El Paso County Public Health and conducted extensive contact tracing.

"We do not have any reason to believe there is any risk to community," the town wrote in a statement. "The employees have not had contact with the
public and we are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our staff and the public."

Officials in Monument say they are disinfecting the facilities where the employees work and are encouraging people to follow CDC health guidelines.
